Competitive pistol

This course is designed to increase handgun skills and learn how to apply them in competitive shooting. We will stress speed and accuracy while covering handgun manipulation skills that will enable the shooter to more effectively use their pistol. The focus will be on the improving skills such as speed shooting, accuracy, the draw, reloads, target transitions, movement, efficiency etc. We will be evaluating students, isolating areas in need of improvement and dive into stage planning. Students will learn self-diagnostics to continue development of their own personal performance and how to practice to improve one’s own skill level.

    • Safety and Gun Handling

    • Scoring, Classification and General Range Procedures

    • Both IDPA and USPSA

    • Courses of fire and how to analyze and break down stages

    • Draw, Reloads, Shooting on the move, footwork, accuracy, recoil management

    • Equipment, Clothing, Range bags and what to have in your range bag

    • Divisions and the rules of each

    • Ammunition and power factor rules explained

    • Serviceable semi-auto pistol of 9mm or larger caliber (Red Dot Sight or Irons)

    • Quality belt with OWB holster strong side holster with at least 1 magazine pouch or appendix holster and 1 magazine pouch

    • At least 3 magazines

    • Eye/Ear protection

    • 500 rounds of ammunition

    • Comfortable clothing (weather appropriate)

    • Water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray

    • Black sharpie or marker

    • Note taking materials

  • Duration: 8 hours

  • STS courses are not eligible for refunds within 30 days of the originally scheduled course date. In the event that STS reschedules a course due to an obligation the 30-day policy shifts to the newly scheduled date. If the refund is requested more than 30 days from the scheduled course date, the buyer will be given a full refund or course credit to use on a future course.     Merchandise refunds & exchanges:
    You have 30 calendar days to return an item from the date you received it. Your item must be unworn and in the condition that it was received. Unless the item is damaged the item will be shipped at the buyer's expense. If the buyer would like to exchange the item for another size or item of equal value the item will be returned at the buyer's expense.
